I have been using the Nanny League for almost a year now. I have been very lucky to get to know the founder, Lindsay Thomason and was honored that she asked me to cohost an event with her to raise awareness and funds for Stop the Silence. The Nanny League needs to raise an additional $3000 to reach their (5k) goal to maintain and expand their online nanny training program. This online training program will help ensure that all of their nannies are certified in Child Sexual Abuse education, prevention and mitigation. This training is just as important as First-AId/ CPR, and with your help, we can expand this program to a larder audience (including teachers, social workers, etc). Let’s work together to help #StoptheSilence and end Child Sexual Abuse!

Please click on this LINK to make your donation today. No matter how big or small, every bit helps! And please feel free to share the link! We appreciate ANY and ALL love❤

So many fun pics from the event below 💙 Too many to get them all on social media!!!

Here is a portion of Lindsay Thomason’s speech from the event I co-hosted for Mommy’s Night Out. Lindsay is the founder of The Nanny League which I have been using for almost a year! Lennox has LOVED every nanny! ❤ This speech had us ALL in tears and incredibly inspired to help in any way possible. Thank you!

“In 2014 during our first Mommy’s Night Out for Stop the Silence, the Duggar scandal had just hit the airwaves, then there was the Cosby scandal, and now here we are three years later, and the Weinstein scandal has taken up most of our news feed. We all know someone who has been sexually harassed or assaulted. After all, statistics say 1 in 4 women 1 in 6 men are sexually abused before they reach the age of 18 -but many women don’t report the abuse, so the statistics are faulty. And why wouldn’t these victims- these SURVIVORS -keep quiet? I mean we live in a society – where even our own “president” makes grabbing women by the — you know what “locker room talk” & therefore acceptable! But, yet, on the bright side we are living in a time where women are rejecting injustices in a way never we have before ! Women, for the first time, in a long time, are speaking their truths- – we are posting ‘ME TOO’ statuses and diving deeper! The conversation is actually happening, and escalating!

And, well… ME TOO.

I am a survivor.

And it wasn’t until my senior year in college that I had my coming out or ‘awakening’ as I like to call it. It was a weight lifted off my shoulders that shortly came crashing back down when I learned that it happened to my older sister as well. I wasn’t his only victim.

In third grade, I got the “schooling out of school award” because I had missed so many days of school for being sick but still maintained straight A’s. I was making myself physically ill because of the secret I was holding in. The doctors at CHOP – Children’ Hospital of Philadelphia- even went as far as testing me for Leukemia. No one could figure out what was wrong with me. It wasn’t until my psychology studies at Syracuse that I learned the power of the brain. I learned about post-traumatic stress disorder and the brain’s ability to protect you when it needs to. I discovered that in Kindergarten, when Daddy said, If I told, he would “go to jail and we wouldn’t live in Haddonfield anymore”. I believed him. And so I lied to Dysfunctional Youth and Family Services when I was five, I never talked about it again. I suppressed it all. Until that one moment I cldnt keep it in anymore. I had to set myself free. I had to let go of the burden because I yearned to live my truth. And the truth, although there have been several bumps along the way, has set me free.

So after pursuing my dream in entertainment and quickly realizing that it wasn’t the right industry for me, I chose to become a live in nanny for a high profile family in Holmby Hills and pursue my passion in childcare. It was here that I had my ‘Oprah aha’ moment and decided to start an agency made up of college educated nannies– for education is truly what has always saved me. It is through my education that I gained the tools, the support system, therapy, and the network to be standing before you this evening. It is the reason we are here tonight. And I have to tell you planning this event was not easy as It makes me feel unbelievably vulnerable and raw to where I rather crawl into a hole or throw in the towel, but I force myself to remember the ‘Why.’ Why have I taken this on? Why am I working to raise money for this cause? Who is it for? And then I remember– it is for our children, our future leaders. It is for the little girl within me who once was silenced. It is for the woman I am today. It is for the little girls (and boys) out there, and perhaps for even the little girl within you…for whom I speak my truth. It’s for anyone too scared to ‘out’ their abuser. It is for anyone who thinks they’re worthless and or at fault. It’s for everyone suffering in silence…. I remember that it’s for all of us–a better, safer, LOUDER world. And so then I stand a little taller, hold my head a little higher, and keep on talking…

So, please help me keep the conversation going. Please help us raise funds for our online nanny training program so that nannies and childcare providers everywhere are certified in Child Sexual Abuse education, prevention and mitigation. And Let’s hope that by the next event, there won’t be yet another scandal.

LOVE YOU, THANK YOU !!!”

Please do what you can for our children 🙏🏻

“Battle Scars examines the war experience, as well as the wrenching change many veterans face upon returning home. Luke Stevens (Zane Holtz) shows up on his brother Nicky’s (Ryan Eggold) doorstep after a tour of duty in Afghanistan suffering from both PTSD and physical wounds, unseen but devastating. Luke wants nothing more than to forget the war, but his veteran father (David James Elliott) won’t let him and he is unable to tell his wife (Amy Davidson) of the trauma he experienced in Afghanistan. At a local strip club, run by a ruthless killer (Fairuza Balk), Luke crosses paths with Michelle (Heather McComb) who leads him into a violent world every bit as dangerous as the brutality Luke so desperately tried to leave behind in Afghanistan.”

While I’ve never had a direct connection to war besides my grandfather, my connection to this film and the character of Jules was instantaneous. On the page, she is a woman desperate to understand what her husband and what is going through. She has waited so long for his return, and once he gets home he won’t even speak to her. One of my favorite scenes to film was when Luke is in the bathroom and I am left banging and banging on the door. One line that struck me to my core was, “What does marriage mean to you?” I imagined this woman waiting and scared, praying for her husband to come home in one piece, only to find him so emotionally broken. My heart broke for her. It’s characters like this that I’m honored to bring to life. I gave her every emotion I was capable of and tried to be as generous with her as possible. Zane and I had so much artistic freedom within Themis particular scene and it was so rewarding to play out a fight that I’m afraid many couples have had and can unfortunately relate to. Playing characters that are relatable is exactly the lane I love to be in. There’s nothing more rewarding than someone coming up to me and saying how touched they were not only by my performance, but by the topic or issue that I helped bring to life. This topic and this issue is so incredibly important. PTSD is an enormous problem and I would love to see people more educated about it, more aware of how to help their loved ones through all of their emotions upon returning home. I’m so incredibly honored to have been a part of this film, and as wonderful as it is to enjoy the premiere and after party, it’s even more rewarding to know that our film has the chance to make a difference… If Battle Scars is in your city and you have the time, please go see it and support our veterans! Please help us spread the word as well. Independent films like this one deserve to be seen! Thank you so very much.

XOXO

Battle Scars, directed by Danny Buday, was an amazing film to be a part of. I was honored to work alongside this amazing cast- Heather McComb, Zane Holtz, Ryan Eggold, Jamal Woolard, Kristen Renten, Essence Atkins, with Fairuza Balk and David James Elliot. This was truly a wonderful experience…

The film revolves around a wounded soldier after his return home from active duty in Afghanistan. I play Luke’s (Zane Holtz) wife, Jules, in this heartbreaking and poignant film. Taking on this role really gave me an insight of what it’s like to be a wife/partner of someone in active duty and beyond. I praise you women and men. My heart goes out to you and my heart breaks for you. You are a strong breed, and although I didn’t experience this in my own life, experiencing it on film gave me a painful glimpse into your world. Your strength moves me and your love for your husbands and wives is inspiring, to say the least.

This story has an extremely important and timely message. I knew instantly when I read the script that I had to be a part of this film. It’s a beautiful thing when a role comes along that makes the hair on your neck stand up. That’s what this script did for me. I was shocked. I was angry. I was moved… And this is why I do what I do- to be able to be a small part of telling a story this pivotal. To hopefully help someone going through a similar situation, and even better, possibly help someone heal

Every soldier has a story. Sometimes Wounds Don’t Heal… Battle Sacrs.

•BATTLE SCARS is being released theatrically on July 14th in the following markets: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco & Toronto. It will also be available for order on iTunes and as a premium VOD selection in various cable markets.•

Getting cheeky on set with Heather McComb and Zane Holtz.

Lets shine light on this story.. Please help us SPREAD THE WORD!

Thank you 🙏🏻

I’ve listed all the products Rachel loves to use below, plus she shares why these are her faves!

Get the look!!

Primer   * Eye Shadow   * Eye Liner   * Skin Enhancer   * Cream Blush

* Powder      * Brow Pencil      * Mascara      * Lashes

* Lip Color      * Lip Gloss      * Highlighter      * Highlighter

Smashbox eye primer As a base for all over, to keep the eye makeup from creasing and for an all day lasting look.

Too Faced Chocolate bar eye shadow palette– This palette is a great go to collection of shadows that warm up the eye area without over doing it. They have a variety of neutrals, golds, plums, browns and they smell like chocolate!!

Mac Teddy eye liner I’ve been using this eye kohl for years now. It is easy to apply and easy to manipulate. I love to add this eyeliner when doing a soft smokey eye for daytime. If you want to add more drama without committing to a black kohl, you can always line the eye with Teddy and then go over it with a black shadow and angel brush.

Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin enhancer (#1)– This product is so versatile, and can be used as concealer, foundation a highlighter or contour. Honey is one of the main components which is very healing for the skin. “Formulated with jojoba oil, honey, and minerals in order to hydrate and create the ultimate soft, dewy complexion. Transfer resistant. Long wearing. Sweat Proof. Perfect for all skin types”

Jane Iredale In Touch cream blush (Chemistry)– This is one of my staple products in my kit! I love using a cream blush before I powder and set the makeup. This is a cream to powder blush stick leaving a flawless flushed look tot the skin.

Too Faced Primed and Poreless powder– This powder is great to set the makeup without adding any extra weight to skin. Anastatia Brow Wiz (sofy brown)

Anastatia Brow Wiz (soft brown) – This brow pencil is perfect for filling in brows, while still keeping the natural shape. This color is perfect for warm brunettes and redheads.

Kevyn Aucoin voluminuzing mascara – The best mascara out there! This mascara has building fibers that create a voluminous lash without the appearance of clumps. This mascara does not flake!!!

Ardell short and medium flare individual lashes– These lashes are great for creating a custom lash that looks natural, perfect for all occasion.

Too Faced Melted Chocolate– (chocolate milkshake) This lip color is absolutely beautiful of most skin tones. The warm undertone is perfect for a daytime and everyday lip color. Again, the chocolate scent is addicting and the wear on this lipstick is long lasting with a velvet finish.

Kevyn Aucoin lip gloss in Tulapina – What I love about the Kevyn Aucoin lipgloss  is that it’s not overly sticky but adds just enough shine to the lips.

Kevyn Aucoin highlighters– (“Candlelight” and “Starlight” Both beautiful highlighters that create a soft and natural glow without being obviously that there is product on the face. I love to apply these highlighters on the bridge of the nose, inner eye and on the top of cheekbones.

Benefit high beam highlighter – Another pretty cream highlighter that can be blended into the foundation or applied on top before any powder added.

I’m thrilled to be sharing a wonderful film I’ve been blessed to be a part of. Based on a true story, Girl on the Edge is a powerful drama from the co-writer of Blue Valentine and the Executive Producer and Co-Creator of A&E’s The Cleaner. It follows the journey of a young girl struggling with the aftermath of a horrific trauma, the toll that it takes on her family, and the last chance she has to overcome it in the most unlikely of places. Girl on the Edge is a moving account of how we can find strength even when we’re at our most vulnerable, and that the only thing keeping us from our own happiness is our willpower to achieve it.

This is a powerful coming of age story that lends to the challenges so many teens face today. Taylor Spreitler is riveting and a joy to share the screen with. Along with the stunning cast, Gil Bellows, Peter Coyote, Elizabeth Pena, Amy Price-Francis, Mackenzie Phillips and Rex Lee. I fully enjoyed playing a counselor at an all girls rehabilitation facility, which was first for me! It was an amazing experience full of raw emotions, poignant story lines and delicious characters.

The theme for September was Hollywood Glam, which was so incredibly fun for me! I mean, what girl does not want to dress up in vintage fashion and feel regal and glamorous? I’ve always been fascinated by Old Hollywood, the sophistication and elegance. Oh how I would have loved to have lived during such a regal time period!
