I can’t sit here and preach breathing when I really don’t follow it myself. When I get anxiety it is so heavy on my chest and getting a deep breath is sometimes impossible. I know there are things to help me, meditation, actually going to yoga more than once a month, the simple art of just breathing. But sometimes something as easy as breathing doesn’t come easy at all. At least not for me. What about you? Do you sometimes find it difficult to catch a deep breath? Especially with a child now, I find myself holding my breath all the time. Is Lennox going to be in a good mood and laugh and want to play? Or is he going to scream and cry and throw things? Is he going to listen to coach at soccer or is he going to run off screaming he wants to play on the playground? This morning at soccer, I looked at my friend and I laughed because I was literally holding my breath. I looked at him and said, “I’m always holding my breath, waiting to see what’s going to happen.” This “JUST BREATHE” hat is more than just a hat for me, it’s a reminder. A reminder to be in the moment, to inhale and exhale and connect with my body- because when I’m not connected I can’t breathe, I get panic attacks and I’m miserable.
